Manual Therapy

In Canada, physiotherapists specialized in Manual Therapy are members of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (CAMPT). CAMPT Physiotherapists have completed extensive post-graduate education in the area of orthopaedics and have achieved internationally-recognized qualifications in hands-on manual and manipulative therapy. Manual Physiotherapists are extremely effective and highly trained at using their hands to diagnose and treat restrictions in movement in the spine, and in the upper and lower body.

Manual therapy is defined as a clinical approach utilizing specific hands-on techniques, including manipulation/mobilizations, used to diagnose and treat soft tissues and joint structures to decrease pain, increase range of motion, reduce or eliminate inflammation, improve muscle activation, strength, endurance and flexibility, improve stability, facilitate movement and improve function.
